Our client
The Asamer Group (www.asamer.at) was founded 1959 by KR Hans Asamer in the transport business. Since its beginnings the company developed from in general more conservative business fields (sand, grit, gravel, cement, concrete) to one of the most innovative companies in Europe. With almost four thousand employees and a turn-over of about 500 Million € an originally small company became a healthy and still growing international corporation.

The project
In 2005 forced by its own growth, Asamer took time and money to invest into a unified IT infrastructure based on MS Navision. After some initial problems, Asamer decided to bring us, TSM as industry knowledgeable consulting partner, into its project team to develop concepts for unified group-wide ERP solutions.
The reason for this decision came from the growth Asamer experienced also its demand for functionality, and because of its heterogeneous data structures, Asamer had to go down the road of unification of ERP data structures.
Process analysis and the fact finding for the functional requirements, the function re-quirement document was organized and moderated by TSM, and filled with content by the Asamer project team. TSM also assisted with the deployment at the phase 1 sites, and supported our client during the contract negotiations with ERP implementation partners. In a comprehensive pre-project 9 different countries, numerous sites (more than 120 companies partially with multiple sites), and 13 different industry branches (among others: Sand / gravel, transport concrete, cement plants, hotel business, telecommunication, real estate business, dump sites, recycling, etc.) TSM analyzed and documented the business processes and their different requirements.
Based upon that TSM compiled a function requirement document. Different ERP system suppliers were screened by Asamer after they replied to the tender catalogues designed by TSM, and a choice was made based on objective criteria.
The project management was supported by TSM at initial implementation sites, especially when forcing the software vendor to deploy in a properly scheduled and structured way. A comprising implementation and project management methodology was developed by TSM for that purpose.
At the initial deployment sites, TSM contributed substantially to project management, to the rollout strategy and to the set of implementation tools.
With the functional requirement documents we assured that even when with a change in the implementation partner, the initially agreed lump-sum budget was not exceeded. At the end an internal IT-Team was enabled to do rollouts at the remaining enterprises of Asamer group.
